The southern Black Forest - one of the most romantic low mountain ranges and one of Europe’s favourite holiday destinations – is not only home to Germany’s highest waterfall and the oldest bridge over the Rhine, but also offers many attractions and countless leisure activities for young and old alike.

The glorious hiking region around the Schluchsee, offering around 160 km of signposted trails (some of which begin directly at our hotel), is one of the most beautiful and varied in the whole of Germany. The town was voted favourite place for hiking in 2005. Glorious forest pathways start straight from the hotel.

The Wutach and Gauchach Gorges are famed for being home to some plant and animal species that became extinct in other parts a long time ago.

The Schluchsee, the largest lake in the Black Forest, provides holiday fun amidst gorgeous countryside. The best way to discover and enjoy the lake is with a trip in a sailing boat, pedalo or rowing boat.

When winter is upon us and the lush green countryside has been covered by a thick white cloak, this holiday oasis turns into a magical wonderland where 60km of cross-country ski trails and numerous ski lifts offer a wealth of winter fun amidst the snow and ice.
